Santiago de Querétaro or simply Queretaro is the capital of the state of the same name and one of the most important cities in the area known as the Bajío Mexicano, because it has been the scene of important historical events in the nation. The so-called Isla de las Salamandras Azules is located 200 km from Mexico City and is proud to be considered one of the cleanest cities in the world with the best quality of life. The beauty of Querétaro's architecture rests in the historic center of the city. Its churches share the baroque style and the period monuments are perfectly preserved.
